The Department of Biological Sciences at Seton Hall University seeks a full-time Lab Coordinator. Briefly, this lab lecturer would be expected to teach 12 credits per academic year of undergraduate teaching labs and/or lab lectures. This faculty’s responsibility would also include lab preparations, maintaining lab facilities, and completing tasks associated with teaching-lab functions for multiple courses. More specifically, the hire would be expected to: (1) coordinate labs courses with other faculty to maintain a consistent and academically strong curriculum; (2) meet with faculty, graduate assistants, and adjuncts to standardize grading & content for core courses (i.e. general biology, anatomy & physiology, genetics, cell biology, nonmajors anatomy & physiology, etc.); (3) support/train graduate students who are teaching laboratory courses; (4) assist with managing safety and OSHA compliance within the lab facilities; (5) and assist with other day-day activities that are important to a functional department (e.g. exam proctoring).
Duties and Responsibilities:

Required Qualifications:
PhD or equivalent terminal degree in biological sciences or related field strongly preferred. Masters required. Strong applicants should be able to teach undergraduate and graduate students effectively in both a large and small classroom setting
Desired Qualifications:
Experience Teaching, Managing, Conducting Lab Experiments, and organize/maintain laboratory rooms. This person should also be effective at managing lab personnel, assessing and improving academic lab quality, and properly setting up teaching labs. Effective lab management includes the coordination of curriculum (assessment, outcomes, etc), purchase orders for supplies, and care for lab/equipment. The lab lecturer will function to educate students, assist in training with instructors annually, and assist with lab equipment maintenance. He/She should be enthusiastic about working with colleagues to best coordinate labs and lectures.
