JOB SUMMARY
|
The research lab of Dr. Michael La Fountaine in the School of Health and Medical Sciences at Seton Hall University is accepting applications for a part-time student research assistant on a grant-funded project. The current position is funded through November 30, 2026, and may be renewed for an additional year depending on study enrollment benchmarks and overall progress to achieve its objectives. The work schedule will align with the University Calendar and include opportunities over the summer session. The candidate may engage up to 15 hours per week during the academic year and 25 hours per week over the summer depending upon the availability of assignable work tasks. |
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

May include, but are not limited to: • analysis of data files using the Integrative Genomics Viewer platform to retrieve participant level information about single nucleotide polymorphisms related to a specific gene pathway, and • perform exploratory computational analyses that seek to maximize our understanding of the gene pathway and its relationship to chronic neurogenic pain among individuals living with a spinal cord injury. |
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. At a minimum, the candidate: • must be proficient in and possess knowledge of genetics, computational biology and physiology, • have a general understanding of how to use software that is built from python programming language, and • have good organizational skills. 2. These experiences can be demonstrated through the completion of coursework, prior work experiences to support a student research project, faculty-mentored experiences, or paid working history performing similar tasks. 3. The incumbent must be in good academic standing and meet the definition of a full-time student who is enrolled in an appropriately aligned undergraduate or graduate degree program. |

The ideal candidate should have an interest in human clinical research and possess a willingness to learn. |
